MAKING TRAINING FUN FOR DOGS & EVERYONE! |
THE PAW SCOUTS USA™ TAIL • (Oops, we mean Tale) |
Paw Scouts USA was created for dogs lovers by dog lovers. It started at an obedience class in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Class members were talking about how much fun it would be to have some kind of badge to show their dog had mastered a particular behavior, even when the dog wasn’t feeling particularly co-operative. (Every dog owner understands that statement! “He’s always so good at home!”) After much thought and a lot of laughter, the first Paw Scouts USA scarf was designed with a few simple patches for the basic obedience commands. People began asking for patches for housebreaking and patches for behaving at the groomers. It wasn’t long before we realized the need for different categories of patches, and tips on how to teach the behaviors everyone wanted to learn. We consulted dog trainers and dog lovers, veterinarians and groomers and learned a lot about training and a lot about dog psychology. The research is on-going and the patch collection just keeps growing. The ten original Paw Scouts USA members were joined by dozens of their friends and fellow canines, and word just kept getting around! Soon we were dealing with patents and trademarks and learning more than we ever wanted to know about the business world too. This website is a chance for you to join the club! Paw Scouts USA™ is a club designed for you and your dog to share, learn and have fun! Our motto is “Making training fun for dogs and everyone.” You are invited to join for free and can do so just by signing up on our registration page. You’ll get our free e-mail newsletters, special offers and chances to get patches at discount prices. Our goal is to help make every dog a valued member of the family, by educating you on how to train him and help him understand what you expect of him. If every dog was a Paw Scout the rescue groups would happily be out of business, as no one could give up such a well trained family member! A portion of our profits is always donated to local rescue groups to help less fortunate dogs find homes and families to love them. We only wish we could take them all ourselves! Your suggestions for new patches and hints on how to train are always welcome. Feel free to e-mail your ideas to us! We’re always ready to lend a floppy ear! In the meantime, check out our site, figure out what you’d like your dog to learn next and register as a member of Paw Scouts USA™! |

The Yorkie was originally bred as a ratter. In the early 19th Century, it was common for Yorkies to demonstrate their prowess as vermin killers in what were known as "rat pits." The terrier who killed the most rats in the least amount of time was considered the winner. Terriers are bred for their courage. This small dog with it's willingness to pursue even the most ferocious of animal has great courage. |
